The Lord will open for you his rich storehouse, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all your undertakings. Deuteronomy 28:12
Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
It is difficult, I think, for anyone to know that he or she is living in a manner that pleases the Lord. By trying our best to "pray and do" and to follow what we have been taught as Christians, we hope that we are living in such a manner. Still, we know that we as humans were born into sin and that we sin every day. What a dilemma!
As we live our lives, we are commanded to be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord. As difficult as that may be, we are assured that we are God's children, that as we strive to excellence in all that we do, God is there to lift us up and forgive the times when we take his blessings for granted, make judgments of others, and miss opportunities to do the Lord's work.
What a blessing to experience God's goodness as we traverse this life. We are assured that our labor is not in vain.
Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Loving Lord, thank you for your word which gives us the path that you would have us to go. Help each one of us to live in a manner that truly pleases you. Forgive us when we stray and bring us back to follow that ways you have laid out for us. Give us the will to strive for excellence in all that we do. Amen.
