A mortal born of woman, few days and full of trouble, comes up like a flower and withers, flees like a shadow and does not last. Job 14:1-2
Here we have no lasting city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. Hebrews 13:14
In Psalm 46:10 the Psalmist proclaims, "Be still and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth." How often we must be reminded to let go and let God. Each of us is blessed with so many days upon this earth. As we live our lives, the strife of life often leaves us full of worry, doubts, and fears. We turn to our own devices trying to fix things ourselves even though God is there waiting to comfort and give us hope.
It's been said often that each day is a gift. Whoa! There are days that seem anything but a gift! Each one of us can think of those kinds of days. And yet, even in the most difficult times there is a kind word that one never forgets; a knock on the door and the surprise of one remembering how this day is one when you could use comfort; a memory that brings back a better time and place; etc.
When we live our lives knowing that God has a place for us in his heavenly kingdom, we are blessed with living this life with hope and faith. We know that our true purpose is in God's hands and that we are blessed to be among his children.
Dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
Thank you for the days that you give us. Help us to live each moment as a gift from you. Forgive our anxieties and worries. Help us to be still and know that you are God. Your grace is sufficient. Amen.
