Samuel said to the people, "Serve the Lord with all your heart, and do not turn aside after useless things that cannot profit or save, for they are useless." 1 Samuel 12:20-21
 
So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:17
 
It sounds so simple. "Serve the Lord with all your heart..." Then there is the ego that each one of us has. Things of this world often entice and lead one to try to find fulfillment in them.
 
When we realize that these things cannot fulfill God's plan for us; nor can they satisfy our innermost needs, God is waiting to guide and us back to what God knows is best for us. He leads us to know that heart-felt service to others, and listening to his will in all that we say and do is the blessing beyond any others found in this world.
 
Dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
Thank you for your guidance and precious word. Help us to lead lives of service and caring for others. Let us share your love in all that we say and do. Amen.
