On the day I called, you answered me; you increased my strength of soul. Psalm 138:3

For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Luke 11:10

Have you ever heard that to worry is like rocking in a rocking chair. It takes energy, but little is accomplished? Sometimes life is heavy and weighs us down with cares that bring on worry. These worries can lead to despair as there seem to be no answers that solve the situation. One may feel alone and helpless. The rocking chair and worrying will get us nowhere. God is always there to forgive the fret and worry brought on by trying to solve by  using one's own devices. God has experienced and seen all that can weigh down any person.

The verses for today are calming and uplifting, because they give us the answers we can only find by relying on God. These words lift us beyond anything we can figure out for ourselves. We may not feel or see God's presence immediately, but we are assured that God knows each one of us and is there to be our guide to everlasting life.

Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Thank you for your ever-encouraging presence. Forgive us when we fret and worry. Thank you for your words that lead us back to you to give each one of us the greatest blessing of all--the promise of everlasting life with you. Amen.
