Moses implored the Lord his God and said “O Lord, turn from your fierce wrath; change your mind and do not bring disaster on your people.” Exodus 32 :11-12.
If anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2:1
Some heartwarming words from Pastor Maria’s sermon last Sunday:
“He sees you, He knows you, He loves you, He pursues you, He accompanies you”
Jesus, our advocate, our good shepherd, always watching us, caring for us, believing in us. Our grateful hearts rise to meet his heart, and we feel cocooned, as though nothing could touch us.
Ah, but that was Sunday morning. What about today and its disappointments, its problems, its frustrations that tire our patience and spoil all our good feelings. Another reality, another day.
But wait. Jesus is still there, isn’t he? Loving us knowing us, forgiving us. Waiting for us to lean on him again, to say our prayers, to say thanks. “Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.”
Sometimes this faith thing seems so simple. But we humans can mix it all up with our human thoughts. To our troubled minds comes another thought, a saving grace type of thought, Jesus is still here. He KNOWS us and our wayward ways. And still loves us. What do you know, it is simple after all!
Dearest Jesus, forgive my doubts, my going it alone. Hold me tight and let me learn that everything is not about me. Thank you for your wondrous gift of love. Amen.
