Like birds hovering overhead, so the Lord of hosts will protect Jerusalem; he will protect and deliver it; he will spare and rescue it. Isaiah 31:5
Jesus said to his disciples, "Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, proclaim the good news, "The kingdom of heaven has come near."
Matthew 10:6-7
God is always near, even in the toughest of times. When wars continue; when sickness seems to overwhelm; when despair feels like a dark cloud, we are promised that the Lord knows our every trial and is there to rescue us. We are destined be in the heavenly kingdom that God has prepared for us when we believe in the promises God has given to us. He calls us to him even in the darkest times and offers hope and guidance.
That is why we are required to proclaim this good news. As we believe God's promise to protect us, and we know that this is so, we must also tell others. Sometimes this is not easy. Maybe we are shy, scared of retribution from those we tell, or filled with caution by any of many hindrances. That is when we turn to God and ask for his guidance in spreading the good news that Christ died and rose again to save all who believe in him. God will help us to do his will each day.
Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Thank you for your word as guidance for us throughout our lives. Help us to do what we are meant to do in Jesus' name. Help us, O Lord, we pray, to do your will today. Amen.
