Hear, O kings; give ear, O princes; to the Lord I will sing, I will make melody to the Lord, the God of Israel. Judges 5:3.
Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Philippians 4:5.
The Lord is always near, we are the ones who go away. Distracted, despondent, depleted, depressed. When we need Him most, we fail to pray. Or are we just too busy, no time, no energy. Our daily lives get in the way. So many reasons, so many excuses.
Gently He calls us back to Him, showing us how to live our lives. “ I give you a gift,” He says. “Gentleness, a fruit of the Spirit. Be calm, go slowly, speak softly. Learn from me”.
Maybe a song brings us back. So much beautiful music in our Lutheran tradition. How amazing to wake up in the morning with the words of a hymn on your mind. The Holy Spirit reminding us of his closeness.
Gentle Lord, teach us gentleness. We have much to learn from you, our Teacher and our Savior. Let us always have a song in our hearts. Amen
