Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the highest heavens, the earth and all that is in it. Deuteronomy 10:14.
Worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water. Revelation 14:7
I am looking around my living room and trying to imagine each piece of furniture, each lamp, each window, each decorative item as it was in the earliest stages of its construction. Which trees gave up their trunks to be used for the making of the tables, the chairs, the wooden trim, the very walls of the room? Where did the windows come from, who made them and out of what? The rugs, the upholstery, the curtains and shades. I see flowers in a vase, a quilt, pillows, a candle, family photos on a table. All these things were made from some basic element which the Lord God created.
Beauty and order are important in our lives. Night follows day, summer follows spring, lunch follows breakfast. God created order as He created the world, as He prepared his son for what was to come. He also created beauty in everything he made, if only we look for it. I believe that God wants us to have beauty around us. Sometimes we have to look hard for it, for one beautiful thing. In nature, it’s not difficult to find something of beauty, especially in the spring when our surroundings are colored again, like the lovely green that only God can make.
As the writer of Deuteronomy states, (Moses?) the earth and all that is in it belongs to the Lord our God. Let’s thank Him and praise Him every day of our lives.
Creator God, you have done wondrous things. Give us thankful minds and hearts. Instill in us a desire to protect and care for our earth and everything that is in it. Amen
